MulletFest: A Festival with Style!

Hello friendly Passamaquoddians!  Great news abounds today as we prepare for one of our favorite yearly event.  Of course, it is finally time for our 2008…

Yes, it is the time of year when we put away our work, maybe get a new shirt and a haircut and celebrate THE MULLET… our favorite fish in the world!  Our love of the mullet is legendary.  But don’t ask me, lets talk to some of our own to hear their thoughts…

First, we caught up with this lady getting in line for Starfish Tours…

“I just LOOOOVE MulletFest.  It gives me a chance to let my hair down and
celebrate the greatest fish in the world.  It is fashionable to love mulletfish in a fishing community.”

This young fellah had just left “Soarin’ Over Passamaquoddy”

“MulletFest is way cool.  It’s like Tony Hawk cool.  Mullet’s like my best fish favorite like!”

We have no idea what that means.

Some of our local businesses see a nice boost in patrons during the fest.  We spoke with the night cook over at Sand Dollar Ella’s Castle…

“Yeah.  It comes at a good time.  Ever since we painted the place like
Pepto-Bismol, attendance has dropped.  I don’t care if its 25 years old.
Nobody wants a pink and blue cake. I mean.. my dad proposed to my mom
in front of this place.  Of course she said “no”.  But MulletFest changes
everything.  We’ve got a lot planned.  We mopped the dining area and keep
that open for business folk and out back we have a party with all sortsa
fish party favors.  All of our menu items are mullet based.  It isn’t the tastiest
fish out there, but we love it.  Just remember, at Sand Dollar Ella’s
during MulletFest… it’s business in the front… party in the back.”

And he isn’t lying.  We caught up with one of the most prominent businessmen in town in the front of Sand Dollar Ella’s…  The inexcusably named Baldy McQueen.

“MulletFest is happening.  Everyone should come down.  You can register
at the barber shop.  They have the tools to make your mullet experience
a great one. I tell ya. Passamaquoddy never looks better than during MulletFest.”

The young and old.

“Mom says I like Mullet”

So, be sure to head over to experience the salty flavor of the best bait fish anywhere at the only Festival solely devoted to it.  MulletFest runs the second weekend of December.

And let us not forget that the MulletFest is also the kickoff for July’s BeeHiveaRoo Fest where everyone in town gathers to remove all the beehives and nests attached to the Swiss Family Robinson’s Brewhouse.  Here is the proprietor of the Brewhouse…

“We’ll see you soon at BeeHiveARoo!

  • I’ll try to contain myself, but let me just say that any fish with two, that’s right, I said TWO, dorsal fins just tickles my tackle! The mullet brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “just keeping swimming.”

  • I can’t wait for this!! I need to go get my hair cut now!

  • Is the BeeHiveARoo anything like Bonnaroo? If so, I am renting an air conditioned motor home for the event.

  • thanks post and blog very interesting, results very nice.
