Once again it is story time in Passamaquoddy.  this time we are taking a look at one of our favorite stories.

At times like this I wonder
“Is the world just a mess?”
The weirdest thing has happened
So weird you’ll never guess

This came to beat my eardrums
On an western blowing breeze
It carried across the tundra
To Passamaquoddy’s seas

Somewhere in this country
Off some rural street
Lives a guy from Iowa
Who wishes to have duck feet!

I read this note with interest
I read it and read it again
Maybe he had mistyped
Or made a mistake with his pen?

But his intent was clear
My reading on the money
He indeed wanted duck feet
And I didn’t find it funny

See I was born with duck feet
Flat webbing ‘tween my toes
But I don’t have a flat beak!
It’s a regular human nose

So before that guy wastes money
On surgery for his dream
I’d like to give fair warning
And reassure his self-esteem

There are advantages to duck feet
But there is also give and take
You see I can’t climb an oak tree
but can swim all heck of a lake

I’ve got no piggies to go to market
Toes are required to play that
Bowling is out of the question
Shoes don’t come in a 9 flat

The playground shouts are vicious,
Mean spirited was their tack…
“While skipping on a sidewalk
Don’t break you’re mommas quack.”

So before you wish for web feet
Some advice to save your psyches
Don’t change the way your feet look
Just go buy some new Nikes.
