Sad News: Search for Missing Vessel Nears End

Local fishermen continue to join the Coast Guard in their efforts to locate the S.S. MINNIE which disappeared last Thursday night during a freak storm. The MINNIE was on her inaugural three hour harbor and coastal tour when she disappeared.

She carried a crew of two along with five passengers.

Residents of Passamaquoddy have grown more concerned each day as the chances of finding the vessel grow dimmer with each returning ship.

A statement released today by the Coast Guard reads. We are sorry to say that nothing significant has been found regarding the fate of the S. S. MINNIE. To date our search has only produced a lone life ring bearing the ships name. At this time we are announcing that the search has entered its final day. If nothing new is discovered the vessel and all hands will be declared lost at sea.

The Coast Guard has declared that their official search will end at 10:00pm tonight.

A candlelight vigil has been planned for that time at Passamaquoddy Light

“We assume the worst, but still hold onto hope, we must never lose hope.”

We conclude this report with soem encouraging words from chief meteorologist Mel Strumm.

“I was rippin’ last night on ‘For Those About to Rock’. Rock Band Rules!”

  • I hope they find them because a world without “Steamboat” is like a world without herring whips.

  • Lorien,
    Nice one.

  • I feel a bit like I am inhabiting the world of South Park, “They killed Willie.”
