Sound ‘Round Town: All About the Corn

And that ladies and gentlemen was another hit from my LP collection. Sorry for the skip during the flugelhorn solo. I heard that the “Compact Disc” invention was able to solve the problem of pops and scratches during playback, but I had nothing but problems. The record player needle would slide right off the little silver buggers. We at KWDY are gonna stick with what works until they get the kinks worked out.

Well friends, today’s radio news has rocked Passamaquoddy. One of our most popular shows has gone off the air. The “All About the Corn Radio Show” is no longer running. It’s a shame to lose such a staple from our KWDY syndication line-up. I personally loved the “ag” report.

In fact, before I heard the All about the Corn show, I thought the only vegetables were shrimp, scallops and oysters.

This is a loss for all of us even though the amount of recorded episodes ran at one - and it was only 3 minutes.

Here’s the actual text from the press release:

Mission Statement:

We at All About The Corn are dedicated to enhancing the life of potential corn customers by working within our local communities in a positive, efficient, and professional manner. We are dedicated to public health and our environment.

For immediate release:

My fellow employees please lend me your ears for an important announcement.

Effective today I am terminating the podcast. I have spent the past three hours working on less than three minutes worth of content for the show. Frankly, I am not sure how podcasters manage to produce shows week after week.

Shucks, I was having fun doing this too. It’s just not time efficient at this time to continue working on something that takes up so much time. Therefore, it is time to move on to other ventures.

Margaret, please stop payment on that check to Andy in Minnesota.

We will continue our written essay series with Fred Appleton as he travels in search of restaurants serving corn with their meals. Fred will be traveling to Walt Disney World in Orlando this December. We can expect a full report from him soon.

As many of you know, Fred has been with us since 1989. His beer reports alone have set him apart from his peers . Questions regarding corn, beer, or the podcast may be addressed to Fred at passthecorn@budweiser.com

Following his Disney trip, Fred will be traveling to “Old Salt’s Bar” located in Passamaquoddy. If you feel like contacting me directly for any reason please notify Fred and he will pass your message along. As I will be out on the Snowy Tundra for an extended period of time. Thank you for your time and may you all have a good harvest season.

Respectfully,
Jeff W.

Jeff is a great guy who is a Disney fan just like all of us. In fact, I met him in the whirlwind of Mousefest and hit it off pretty quickly. Within the Disney online community, he doesn’t sit back and lurk, he contributes in a very unique way. Not only has he submitted some hilarious introductions to the All About the Mouse podcast, he also runs his own blog, Snowy Tundra Training. He has an inspiring story of his quest for better health and his love of Disney. I’m sure he would love for you to stop over to give support and be supported.

Thanks Jeff!

Here in Passamaquoddy, we store audio and pocdcast reviews under “Sound Round Town” in the search engine.

  1. I’m not really sure what to think about the disappearance of the podcast. Do you have the whole back catalog on LP?

  2. Lorien says:

    geek

  3. Doc Terminus says:

I do have the entire back catalog, but its on 8-track - another technology I believe is about to have a big resurgence.

And yes Lorien, the name biblioadonis sounds greek.

(BTW, I see your “r” key is still broken)

  4. Lorien,

    Is that a compliment or a come-on?
