A Quarter Century Celebrated: Final Thoughts
The most obvious example would be Adam Roth who, along with Jenn Wiatt, pieced together CELEBRATION 25. The event was a big success as far as I am concerned. In a short amount of time, they rallied a large amount of fans that all traveled from around the world to attend an event that almost didn’t happen. Most amazingly of all is that Adam had to skip school to attend the event himself… Not college… High School. Adam, who organized a great event, was not even born until Epcot was almost done with its first decade. Great work Adam.
In addition to CELEBRATION 25, which was sponsored by Dreamfinder Forever, WDW Radio and 2719 Hyperion, there was also another group that met to honor Epcot in their own way. It was called “The Epcot Thing”. I’m not sure how their attendance was, but at one point I saw a large clump of black shirts.
Now, a word on Disney itself. With several hundred attendees from “The Epcot thing” and “Celebration” that showed up for the re-dedication, the park still remained pretty quiet for the rest of the day. Disney certainly catered to those who were there. The limited edition giveaways were a great touch, but it appears to be stuff that was considered after-the-fact. That would confirm rumors that Disney was going to let the 25th pass quietly. Yet, the 25th Anniversary watch had the wand on it. So, at least that was planned awhile earlier.
No matter. We’ll never know.
Now, what’s planned for the Disney Studios 25th?
